Mindfulness Online
I started an online Mindfulness group in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. At the outset, when so many of us were struggling with the anxieties and uncertainties of the unfamiliar world in which we found ourselves, this was a resource to help navigate the very challenging situation. While our lives have now returned to “normal”, the group has continued, and become a small community of people practicing together, learning more about meditation, and hopefully getting support to maintain a regular practice between sessions.
The sessions consist mainly of practice, plus time for discussion. Occasionally I do a short talk on some aspect of Mindfulness. Participants are free to join in whenever they are able. It is helpful to have some previous experience of Mindfulness or other sort of meditation.
Currently, we meet on Tuesdays: 10.00-11.00am and 7.00-8.00pm.
The sessions are free, though if they wish, participants can donate to the various charities that we support. These are The Trussell Trust, Médecins Sans Frontières, Somerset Mind and The Somerset Wildlife Trust. To date (March 2025), we have raised over £14,000 between the four charities.
For those living close enough, we meet every two to three months on Saturdays at the Quaker Meeting House in Taunton.
